A Groupon Experience: The Sports Pub

One of the many wonderful things about writing for Madison Consumer is getting to learn about great deals in the area! My family took advantage of two promotions in February.

Our first stop was The Sports Pub to use our $20 Groupon (we paid $10 for a $20 gift certificate). We arrived just as it opened and we were greeted by friendly waitstaff. The bar was clean and inviting with games on every tv. Our server was very outgoing and clearly had kids of her own as she knew exactly how to interact with our kids.

The Sports Pub has an extensive menu with your typical bar fare, but they also offer items such as salads, french dip  and steak sandwiches, wraps,  and shrimp dinners.

We ordered the following meals:

  • Fish Sandwich ($6.25)
  • Corned Beef Reuben ($6.50)
  • 2 Kid’s mini corn dogs ($4.95)

The Sports Pub also had free popcorn, so I had to order a glass of Blue Moon to go with it. The Sports Pub has great bar food and our meals were spot on. The kids’ meals came with a drink and cookie. Our bill came to $26.65 and after using our Groupon, we paid $6.65 plus tip.

After lunch, we took our kids to their first UW women’s basketball game at the Kohl Center. The girls had a blast at the game, but were disappointed they didn’t catch any of the t-shirts thrown into the crowd. Our tickets to the game were free, but we made up for it in the store!

It was a great way to spend time together as a family while saving a bit of cash along the way.
