Green Bay Packers Youth Football Camps Ignite Physical Activity – #eatlikeapacker

Green Bay Packers Youth Football CampsThe Green Bay Packers Youth Football Camps are coming to Madison this summer. These camps run for five days throughout Wisconsin.

There are two sessions available in Madison this summer:

  • Monday, June 18 – Friday, June 22
  • Monday, July 23 – Friday, July 27

Summer is a great time to get our kids outside burning energy and enjoying the freedom that comes with summertime!

Camps and workshops offer a great experience for the kids and for the parents. It lets us gauge our children’s interest and ability.

Frankly, I don’t really care how talented my child is in her sport as long as there is passion and drive. I played college tennis and would LOVE my kids to go that route, but I’ll be happy with whatever they choose as long as it gets them moving.

I don’t want my kids to sit around the house watching TV, playing video games, or reading all day. Physical activity is so important for the body, mind, and spirit! Exercise does wonders for our kids–just as it does for us older people. 😉

The camps are designed for kids ages 6-14, and all campers are divided into groups based on experience level and age. They run the camp with stations so the kids are able to learn a variety of football skills such as throwing, catching, defending, and form tackling.

The great thing about this camp is the kids will have a blast while reaping the benefits of physical activity. Kids (and some adults, ahem) won’t even realize the workout they’re getting because it’s disguised as fun activities. This concept really hits home for me. I can’t stand working out, but put me on a tennis court and it’s no longer a workout–it’s fun and competitive.

Stations are really great for the kids too. If a kid doesn’t like one of the stations–no big deal–he or she will get to move to a new one soon enough!

Getting kids to be physical through fun activities will help them develop a lifelong love of fitness. The camps run for five days from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. They focus on not only introducing the kids to sports, but also instilling a passion for being healthy.

The camps offer off-field learning opportunities as well. During this time, the kids will learn about nutrition through games and interactive classroom activities. One of the activities is called “Eat Like a Packer” (#eatlikeapacker). Check out the online game “Eat Like a Pro.” Kids will learn which foods will provide energy and help them feel great. Likewise, they will learn about foods that slow them down and provide little to no nutritional value.

Learn more about the Green Bay Packers Youth Football Camps on their website.

You could win a Green Bay Packers Youth Football Camps prize package:

  • 2 G-Force Water applied tattoos
  • 1 G-Force beaded necklace
  • 1 G-Force Sticker
  • 1 “Return to Titletown” story of the 2010 Super Bowl Packers (soft cover)

To enter, complete the form below. One entry per person–duplicate entries will be deleted. One winner will be randomly selected via

This giveaway has ended–stay tuned for future contests!

Entries must be received before 11:59 p.m. on Sunday, June 3, 2012.

*Camp description courtesy of the Green Bay Packers Youth Football Camps (#eatlikeapacker):

The Green Bay Packers Youth Football Camps are safe, non-contact instruction for kids ages 6-14 and are very suitable for any kid that just wants to learn the game. They provide a station-based training format that allows campers to be divided by age and experience level so each receives the right level of instruction and support. Kids will learn to run, throw, catch, defend, form block, form tackle and explode out of their stance with proper technique and improved speed. The camps, which each run for 5 days from 9am to 3pm (that’s 30 hours active learning, instruction and fun!), do more than just introduce kids to sports, they make kids passionate about being healthy and help develop a lifelong love of fitness.

WalkIt with GolfDigest + Humana is giving away pedometers. If you sign up for their free pedometer, you will also be entered to win a trip to the 2013 Humana Challenge.

The Humana Challenge is a PGA Tour event in La Quinta, California from January 14-20, 2013.

I just signed up for my pedometer, and I should receive it within 60 days. This is a great offer for me as my pedometer just broke!

I love wearing a pedometer every day–I appreciate seeing how many steps I’ve taken in a day; however, I mainly wear it to remind myself to make healthy decisions throughout the day.
