FlowersIt is with great confidence that I hand over the Madison Consumer reigns to Jennifer, aka, The Bargain Sleuth.

I have had a great time over the last two years sharing Madison area deals and events with all of you. I am off to focus on other projects. However, I leave you in good hands.

Jennifer is the ultimate deal seeker and will share all of her great money saving tips with you. She is a pro with coupons, grocery savings, and online deals.

If you have any topic suggestions, please get in touch with Jennifer!

I wish you all the best!
Jill

P.S. Those flowers have absolutely nothing to do with this post. It’s just a photo from our summer vacation to Canada. :)

Introducing The Bargain Sleuth to Madison Consumer

Hello, everyone!  Don’t know if you’ve noticed, but the past few days there have been a few posts written by The Bargain Sleuth.  That’s me, Jennifer.  After nearly two years at the helm of Madison Consumer,  Jill has decided to move on to other projects.  So I’ll now be “moonlighting” on Madison Consumer.  My “day job” is writing for Green Bay Consumer, another one of the Wisconsin Consumer websites.

I love our state capitol and everything it has to offer.  I plan on bringing  you guys the same great content that Jill provided for the Madison area, plus add in a little more in grocery and online deals.

Have any suggestions?  Please feel free to contact me!  I’m looking forward to getting to know all of you!

What is LivingSocial Plus?

LivingSocialI just purchased a LivingSocial deal; and, during the checkout process, I was asked if I wanted to join LivingSocial Plus.

LivingSocial Plus is their premiere membership program, and this is what it entails.

Spend $20 each month and get the following perks:

  • $25 in Deal Bucks every month (a $5 bonus)*
  • Deal Bucks applied to this purchase
  • priority access to closed deals*
  • cancel anytime

* 20 of the 25 Deal Bucks good for 5 years or longer as required by applicable law; 5 expire at the end of each billing period if not used. Closed deal access subject to availability.

Deal Bucks are basically free money to use to purchase LivingSocial deals. You will lose 5 Deal Bucks every month (if you don’t use it), and the other 20 are good for at least five years.

With this membership, you will have 48 hours after a deal closes to contact LivingSocial and request the deal. They will try to get one for you, but there’s no guarantee.

You can cancel your membership at any time, and you will be able to keep the Deal Bucks that are in your account until they expire.

What do you think? Would you benefit from LivingSocial Plus? Anyone out here already using it? Leave a comment and let us know your thoughts!

Welcome WKOW 27 Viewers

WKOW 27For those of you visiting Madison Consumer after seeing the online deal segment on WKOW 27, welcome! I hope you’ll take a moment and look around the Madison Consumer site.

Madison Consumer’s goal is to share helpful information with residents of Madison and the surrounding areas. I love finding ways to save money and spend smart.

I’ve always been one to call my friends and share the great deals I find–Madison Consumer allows me to spread to news even wider than my circle of friends.

As I discover ways my family can save money and get the most for our money, I will share my findings with you. If you’d like to learn more about me, check out my Welcome to Madison Consumer page.

Madison Consumer covers local sales, family-friendly events, coupons, and other Madison area deals. Check back daily for new posts Monday through Friday. I typically take the weekends off to spend time with my family.

There are several ways you can find out how to save money in Madison:

  • You can check back here on your own, or sign up for my daily email list–in the subscribe section under the LivingSocial deals. The email is sent out at 4 p.m., and you will only get an email from me if I have posted that day. If the daily email is too frequent, you can subscribe to the weekly email; however, sometimes the deals I find are short notice, and you might miss out with the weekly subscription.
  • Another great source is the Madison Consumer Facebook page. I share lots of extra information on Facebook that you won’t find here.
  • You can also follow me on Twitter. All of the posts are automatically sent to Twitter once they’re published. I also share great articles I’ve read regarding ways to save money, and I will Retweet deals that I see on Twitter.
  • Subscribe to the RSS Feed to get the posts filtered into your reader.

Look for the daily deals from Groupon and LivingSocial in the middle of the page–no need to open multiple emails, just check here for the complete list. Looking for a coupon? Check the “Madison Coupons” tab on top!

If you have friends and family looking for similar information for the Milwaukee or Green Bay areas, check out my “brother and sister” sites Milwaukee Consumer and Green Bay Consumer.

I love hearing from Madison Consumer readers–if you hear about a deal, please don’t hesitate to contact me.

Thanks for stopping by!
