First Class Mail rate going up January 27th

It will be a little more expensive to send First Class Mail starting January 27th.  That’s when the price of a stamp is raised from $.45 to $.46.

Whenever there is a postal increase, I usually take stock of my Forever Stamps and buy more.  The last time I purchased stamps was more than 2 years ago at $.43 each.  That’s the beauty of Forever Stamps–you can buy them and use them anytime in the future, regardless of if there’s another price hike.

The U.S. Postal Service also announced other  changes:

  • Postcards will increase 1 cent to 33 cents.
  • A new First-Class Mail Global Forever Stamp will be introduced.  This stamp can be used to mail letters anywhere in the world for $1.10.
  • Domestic retail pricing for Priority Mail Flat Rate products is increasing.

A full list of the price of stamps can be found on the U.S. Postal Service website.
