Click & BidThe Click & Bid Online Auction hosted by Madison.com runs April 15-23, 2012.

Hundreds of auction items such as jewelry, gift cards, electronics, dining, and travel will be up for auction–all from trusted local businesses.

Within the auction site, you can search for certain items or view everything available. Each item includes a picture, where the item is from, and its value. If you find something you want to bid on, simply register as a bidder and start bidding once it opens. You can also indicate a secret maximum bid for an item and the Bidder Trust Committee will act on your behalf. Only you and the Bidder Trust Committee will know your maximum secret bid.

You can find all of the details and rules on the Click & Bid site. The auction catalog will be included in the Sunday, April 15, 2012, edition of the Wisconsin State Journal.

After having used eBay, I suggest waiting to place a bid until the end of the auction is near. If you bid too early, you’re just raising the price of the item or service.

Do your research and track the items you’re interested in. Once it gets closer to the end of the auction, start your bidding. It also helps to know how high you’re willing to bid before you start!
