Deep Discounts on American Girl – July 21-22, 2012

Madison Children's MuseumThe Madison Children’s Museum (MCM) & American Girl’s Fund are hosting the 25th American Girl Benefit Sale on July, 21-22, 2012.

The sale is open from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, and reopens on Sunday from 8 a.m. until noon. The sale is located at 8830 N. Greenview Drive in Middleton.

This isn’t your typical sale where you can shop whenever you want–they actually distribute tickets to help manage the amount of shoppers in the warehouse at one time.

Saturday Tickets are $5 each and there’s a limit of 4 tickets. MCM members will get one free ticket.

Members and nonmembers can submit a ticket request beginning June 1, 2012. Simply complete the form and mail it no earlier than June 1 (orders with a postmark prior to June 1, 2012, will not be accepted).

The sale on Sunday is handled a little differently. Tickets are free and will be distributed on Sunday morning as shoppers arrive.

Don’t bypass the Sunday sale just because you think everything will be picked over! We don’t know the inventory and what the other shoppers will be looking for. There should be great deals on Sunday too! Plus, the ticket is free, so you’ve got nothing to lose. :)

As the sale gets closer, a price sheet should be sent out (sign up to get email updates). I have no idea what the prices will be, but I can let you know how the products were priced last year–just for reference.

2010 Sale Prices:

  • Historical dolls – $75 (normally $105 with book)
  • Girl of the Year – $95 (normally $105 with book–Kanani)
  • My American Girl dolls – $65 (normally $105 with charm keeper necklace)
  • Bitty Baby  – $30 (normally $50 with book)
  • Bitty Twins – $30 (normally $105 with book)
  • Clothes and accessories – $2-20

If you decide to go to the sale, be sure to read the “Tips for Shoppers” section on their website. You’ll want to bring a big bag to carry the dolls–those boxes are really big and bulky. They do sell bags there if you forget to bring one.

The American Girl sale is a great time to stock up for birthdays and holidays! We’ve gotten several dolls from the sale in previous years. I left my kids at home so I could shop for Christmas gift (kids under three are not allowed at the sale).

Check out the MCM’s website for all of the information and tips.

Thanks for the reminder, Jenny (she is the one who introduced me to this sale many moons ago)!
