Winter Art Festival Nov. 10 – 11

It’s time again for the Winter Art Festival!  This year’s event takes place at Monona Terrace on November 10 and 11, 2012 and the hours are 9:00 to 5:00 on Saturday and 10:00 to 4:00 on Sunday.

More than 140 exhibitors will be on hand with all sorts of art:

  • pottery
  • paintings
  • fiber
  • glass art
  • wood
  • photography
  • jewelry
  • graphics
  • sculpture
  • and more!

The Art Festival also features a Silent Auction on Saturday with proceeds to benefit the Youth Scholarship Fund.

Children under twelve get a chance to purchase artwork in the Young Collector’s Corner.  And a Kids’ Corner offers children the opportunity to create small artworks.

Musical entertainment ranges from Celtic to New Orleans blues to classical with special performances by advanced piano students of area piano teachers.

Fourth Annual Wisconsin Original Cheese Festival Nov. 9 – 10

Celebrate Wisconsin’s dairy artisans and original cheeses with the Fourth Annual Wisconsin Cheese Originals Festival.  This year’s event takes place November 9 – 10 at Monona Terrace.

You’ll get a chance to meet cheesemakers through a variety of events, including creamery and farm tours,cheesemaker dinnerseducational and tasting seminars, and the popularMeet the Cheesemaker Gala.

The Annual Wisconsin Cheese Originals Festival is hosted by Wisconsin Cheese Originals, a member-based organization dedicated to celebrating Wisconsin artisan cheeses and cheesemakers.

All tickets sold in advance and cost $29.00.

2012 Art Fair on the Square & Art Fair Off the Square

flickr-ibm4381The annual Art Fair on the Square and Art Fair Off the Square are this weekend: July 14 & 15, 2012.

Head to the square on Saturday and Sunday for the 54th annual Art Fair on the Square. The Art Fair is organized by the Madison Museum of Contemporary Art and features over 450 artists.

Music is a major part of the fair and this year there will be three performance stages:

  • Wisconsin Public Radio Stage: State Street at the Capitol Square
  • Triple M Music Stage: Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard
  • North Hamilton Performance Stage: Capitol Steps at North Hamilton Street

The fair hours are Saturday, July 14 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday, July 15 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. You can find a map of the event here.

Art Fair Off the Square is happening at the same time. The 33rd annual Art Fair Off the Square hosts 140 Wisconsin artists and features ceramics, art glass, drawings, jewelry, paper-making, and more. The fair is located along Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard and on the Monona Terrace Convention Center Esplanade.

flickr-ibm4381Whew! It was a fun-filled weekend and I’m ready for a breather. I hope you had a fabulous 4th of July weekend! Don’t rest for too long–Art Fair on the Square and Art Fair Off the Square are this weekend!

Head to the square on Saturday and Sunday, July 9-10, 2011 for the 53rd annual Art Fair on the Square. The Art Fair is organized by the Madison Museum of Contemporary Art and features over 450 artists.

There’s plenty of activities for the kids too. Take them to the Kids’ Area at the corner of King Street and the Capitol Square. Kid activities include art projects such as screen-printing, beading, coloring, and much more. The kids will love the face painting, an instrument petting zoo, and a mural project.

The mural project is hosted by Isthmusparents.com. Stop in their tent on Saturday or Sunday to contribute to the mural. The completed mural will be available for viewing online the week of July 11.
