Olbrich’s Leaf Mulch is Available

Olbrich Botanical GardensThe Olbrich Leaf Mulch is made from leaves collected in Madison during the fall. The leaves are then composted outside during the winter months. In the spring, the leaves are shredded and bagged.

The leaf mulch is great for your annuals, perennials, shrubs, and trees. There are many benefits of leaf mulch, such as recycling local leaves, reducing your watering needs, regulating soil temperatures, and adding nutrients to the soil.

Check out Olbrich’s website for a list of benefits and to find out more about the process.

For $6.50 (plus tax), you’ll get enough mulch to cover 35 square feet if you pile it two to three inches deep.

The leaf mulch is only available at Olbrich Gardens from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily (while supplies last).

Be sure to line your vehicle with a tarp in case liquid leaks out during transport.

Olbrich had a Closeout Sale last year–buy one, get one free; however, that wasn’t until July. No word on whether or not they will hold a similar sale this summer. I’m sure it will depend on how much mulch is leftover.
